Since Saturday I am proud owner of a Monster 1000i.e.Dark model 2002 and after one week end of driving I have a constant smile on my face.

I would like to ask you guys how often do you change the timing belts on your bikes? The dealers in Germany say I must change every two years, no matter how many kilometers I made (but maximum every 20.00km).
The last change was in January 2014 and since then the bike only ran 500km, so I shall change the belts in 3 months.
Does any of you guys have experience how long the timing belts stand? I wonder, because cars need a change every 6 years. Ot do the dealers try to make money every two years?
